My family and I moved to the United States when for three months when I was 16 years old. We moved because of my dad's work. This experience really helped me to be more independent since we were dropped in a new environment without knowing anyone.
When I was 18 years old, I lived in the Dominican Republic for four months. I did this with an exchange program called AFS. This experience once again gave my indepence a boost. You get dropped in a random house and need to be able function here. Living there has also giving me the opportunity to come in contact with a lot of new cultures and people from other countries.
Of course most of my life I have lived in Belgium. My home is here and I also study here. I live in Antwerp but study in Ghent and have my own little house there in which I live with a friend. Entering the student life 3 years ago has learned me a lot. You get to know a lot of people and get to know your own strengths and weaknesses. I started my studies in sociology, but have made the choice to change to International Business management in 2020.
When I was 10 years old my family and I moved to India for 3 months. We did this for my mom's work. This experience was a long time ago, but still has an impact on my life now. I have learned at a young age to be able to adapt and be open to new things. I think this is an amazing thing to be able to do as a child. In the module of talent we had to talk about our talents and I think one of my biggest ones is being open to new things and new cultures but also being able to adapt to new situations.
In 2018 my family and I went to Namibia for a month. My mom works with the local communities over there. This experience has learned me so much, once again to be open minded to new cultures and ways of living. We lived next to an indigenous tribe, and their way of living is totally different than ours.
